I originally left avatars disabled to prevent people abusing it. I am willing to give it a try, but if it gets abused I will disable it again.

I thought about that, but I realized that there are already a number of animated images on this bulletin board that I don't have control over. If Lots42 wants to eliminate animated images, I might suggest he use a browser that provides an option to turn off animated images, such as Mozilla.
