Is it possible to send private messages to more than one person at once? This would be very useful for discussion between writers of a thread.

I'm not aware of such a feature. It does seem like a useful feature though. I'll suggest it to the phpBB development team.

I just did a check of the phpBB feature requests database. Such a feature has already been requested, and it is scheduled for inclusion in the next release of phpBB.
