Jesse Welton is the winner of Round 186 and the judge of round 187. Ed Murphy is the Wizard! Team Aqua and Team Teal have finished the game with a draw. (Ed murphy absorbed the penalty for Aqua himself in the first rule and Jesse distributed the points evenly between the two teams in his next two rules). Thanks to the tie the fans are deleriously happy since, being unable to tell the difference between teal and aqua to begin with, they were not sure who they were supporting. My judgement is that all players recieve an extra style point if they were known to be on a winning team. Aqua: Jesse Welton (Captain), Alan Riddell Teal: Ed Murphy Everyone else? Well I don't have any reason to assume there were only two teams on the feild. I can only assume the other committee members were on the other teams. To: "The Fantasy Rules Committee" <frc_at_trolltech.com> In the case that E. Murphy has not posted by the time this message is posted, Round 186 begins now. The suggested theme is The World Cup. I would like to at least begin the round before a similarly named event purported to be taking place in the "real world" reaches its conclusion. Phhhweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! (That's the whistle.) Everyone is elegible to play until seven days after the date of this posting. Ed Murphy is still the Wizard. ______________________________________________________________________ Movies, Music, Sports, Games! http://entertainment.yahoo.ca -- Rule Date: 2002-06-14 01:19:48 GMT "The Fantasy Rules Committee" <frc_at_trolltech.com> Er, let me finish this adjudication properly now. Writing stylish and entertaining rules after that is always easier. A point for a good sense of place and story. Another two points for actually having a kickoff and for hinting to other players how best to play along, (the eleventeen restrictions). This is looking good for Ed, until I remembered that he must lose 2 points for delay of game... which brings him to 1 point again. Better luck next time. ______________________________________________________________________ Movies, Music, Sports, Games! http://entertainment.yahoo.ca -- Rule Date: 2002-06-14 11:09:08 GMT --- Jesse Welton <jwelton_at_pacific.mps.ohio-state.edu> wrote: > 186:2 > ----- > > Team Aqua's goalie leaps for the ball to block... As required it contains the first unknown Calvinball restriction, but clearly the Aqua team captain is playing for more than just the Calvinball World Cup. The additional and devious restrictions in his rule clearly indicate this player wants to bring home the Cup AND become the judge of round 187! Style: 2.0 For good story continuation and excellent restrictions. * Starting now, I will not award Calvinball points as style points to the rule authors, (as I did with Ed Murphy when he penalized himself in a rule), but to their team. Members of the winning team may receive a style bonus at the end of the round. So at this time, by my count, the score stands thus: Teal: 0 Aqua: 1 ______________________________________________________________________ Post your ad for free now! http://personals.yahoo.ca -- Rule Date: 2002-06-16 16:37:55 GMT Date: Fri, 21 Jun 2002 06:10:40 -0400 (EDT) From: "Joshua" <j3b4_at_yahoo.com> | Block Address | Add to Address Book Subject: Re: 186:3 To: "Fantasy Rules Committee" <frc_at_trolltech.com> Sorry Jesse, you'll recieve this twice due to my mistake with the reply button. --- Jesse Welton <jwelton_at_pacific.mps.ohio-state.edu> wrote: > 186:3 > ----- > > Alan Riddell kicks to Teal's defensive midfield, with Jesse Welton in > hot persuit but unlikely to reach the ball before one of Teal's > defensive players. While it includes an interesting Calvinball Restriction it does little to affect the writing of future rules in round 186. Commiting fouls in Calvinball does not yet seem to have any bearing on the validity of rules. ______________________________________________________________________ Post your ad for free now! http://personals.yahoo.ca -- Rule Date: 2002-06-21 10:11:01 GMT Date: Sat, 22 Jun 2002 10:03:27 -0400 (EDT) From: "Joshua" <j3b4_at_yahoo.com> | Block Address | Add to Address Book Subject: Re: 186:4 (revised ruling) INVALID + 0.5 To: "frc" <frc_at_trolltech.com> I'm afraid Jesse is right. Unless Ed Murphy and James Willson are the same person this rule fails to meet the requirement of rule 186:2 that every rule must contain a play in which the author of the rule is described as handling the ball in some way. As painful as it is I'm going to have to admit I made an error and reverse my judgement. Rule 186:4 is INVALID. --- Joshua <j3b4_at_yahoo.com> wrote: > --- James Willson <jkvw3_at_yahoo.com> wrote: > > 186:4 > > >>>>>>>>>> > > > > "In a last ditch effort, Ed Murphy grabs the ball and passes, > > but it finishes melting before it can be received! > > The game is over!" > > > > "With a score of 6-3, all penalty points, Team Aqua takes the win." > > > > "That's right; it seems Aqua's strategy of never attempting > > a goal shot worked out for them." > > > > "And without the three points Ed Murphy earned for Aqua fouling his > > goal shots, > > we'd have a tie now." > > > > "Having given away five of the opposition's six points, > > he's surely going to be named Least Valuable Player." > > > > >>>>>>>>>> > > > > > > __________________________________________________ > > Do You Yahoo!? > > Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup > > http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com > > > > -- > > Rule Date: 2002-06-20 02:52:09 GMT > > VALID +0.5 > > At first I thought this was invalid until I realized that 186:1 does > not specify that ALL future rules will reveal a Calvinball > restriction > but only the "next" one. > > Style wise this rule is short, that's good.
